Rembuden Kendo Taikai Results

Posted by Zoe Taylor on October 8, 2014 at 5:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Although the Rembuden Kendo Taikai was a great success and there were many teams that attended from throughout the country, normally they do not provide any results at the end of the competition, but in regards to how the IPC / Youshinkan club got on, the results are as follows:

Yuiichiro Ohara and Kentaro Katakira from IPU both made it to the quarter finals of the senior men's dan grades and junior dan grades respectively. IPC and Youshinkan did extremely well and Olivia from Youshinkan also came third equal in the women's kyu grades.

A fantastic weekend overall and we all really enjoyed ourselves, plus meeting other Kendo'ists from around the country. We look forward to attending again next year and hopefully taking more members with us to compete!

Coming up end of February there will be a Kendo Seminar held in Auckland. This is an opportunity for members of IPC / IPU / Youshinkan Kendo club to grade and also a great learning opportunity if other sensei from Japan attend. Until then we will e training hard and look forward to heading down to Wellington again end of November to practice with Sue and Liz at the Youshinkan Dojo.

Some very good Kendo during the Shiai and we hope to just keep on improving as the weeks and months progress leading up to Rembuden and the IPC Spring Festival on the 27th of September (Saturday).

Congratulations Boys! and thank you to the talented and amazing Hutt team for your attendance over the weekend, it is always a pleasure hosting such as amazing group of individuals.

We are currently advertising for new members to join the club both from the International Pacific College (IPC) and the public. Doesn't matter what age, as long as you can show a keen interest in playing Kendo and are committed to staying on as a member, that's all we need!

Looking forward to teaching some new members as well as improving my own skills and possible moving up a level in Kendo later in the year. Hoping to visit some other Dojo's in the North Island later in the year also and get to know a few new faces around the Kendo field (or Dojo) haha

Welcome to the website,

browse around and feel free to get in contact with us if you are interested or know anybody that's interested in Kendo.
